1. Jon Stewart Most Influential Man in America. This is news? Did people not know this?

1b. There will be 508 Port-a-Johns at the Rally to Restore Sanity this weekend in Washington D.C. They are expecting 150,000 people. What this means is: go before you go.

2. Geoff Boucher over at Hero Complex interviewed God, err, Chris Nolan about Batman 3. And? He got some answers!

- The movie is officially called The Dark Knight Rises
- The villain is not The Riddler
- Boucher is hoping it's gonna be Hugo Strange. Which was my vote two weeks back. If I'm right do I get a cookie?

3. Also, in Tom news. Several weeks back I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] maurheti and said that at the rate his star is ascending it was only a matter of time before Angelina starting circling on her broom. I just didn't think that it was gonna happen this soon. Am I an Angelina fan? No, Ari and I are not. We don't hate her, just don't subscribe to all the fuss.

4. I saw Killshot the other day. Uh HUH. I have no idea how people can see Joe as anything than insanely ripped and stronger than a 2 by 4 to the back of the head. He's lithe, but there is nothing weak or feeble about him. He's got Zero fucking Body Fat. He's ripped like a Marine. He's not built like a bloody romance novel heroine. I don't even... But you know, opinion is subjective; this is my opinion.

5. In less hostile news, [livejournal.com profile] maurheti, [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma and I have finally - yes fucking finally -- seen the pilot for Sherlock. Yes, that Sherlock. I had no idea it was a modern adaptation. I had no idea it was, in fact, that clever. Or that gay. Gracious. Do you have story recs for us? Bring 'em on!

There's at least one good Sherlock/Inception crossover out there:

I really, really liked Sherlock, though I am miffed that apparently at least one key plot point was lost through BBC America's usual editing-for-time nonsense.

So far [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic is my go-to for fic in this fandom: here's her(?) tagged stuff (http://irisbleufic.livejournal.com/tag/sherlock).

I also loved these:

The Goodge Street Gambit and the Controversial Non-Holmesian Principle (http://definewisdom.livejournal.com/36181.html) by [livejournal.com profile] definewisdom -- Watson and Lestrade play a game Sherlock doesn't know.

Paper Chase (http://sam-storyteller.dreamwidth.org/158055.html) by [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge -- Sherlock/White Collar crossover. Author's summary: "One criminal consultant. One consulting detective. One serial killer. And one perhaps inadvisable bet..."

I saw it on PBS, what plot point was presumably missing?

Thanks for the recs!

Aw, The Riddler would have been pretty damn cool. I always liked him. Fingers crossed that it's not The Penguin. Oh godddd I facepalm and headdesk at the thought. I know I'm in the minority when I say I didn't really enjoy The Dark Knight all that much. So now I'm even more excited for this third movie.

Also. SHERLOCK. So good.

I think I can say with some certainty: whomever it is, it won't be the Penguin. I liked the Dark Knight a lot. I just think it went on too long.

Basically, everything I've loved, I've podficced. So this list of my Sherlock podfics pretty much functions like a Delicious site, because they all have links to the text files, so you don't have to listen to the podfic version. Sorry - sounds kind of self-pimpy, but that's not where I'm coming from. (Although admittedly one of them is written by me, now I come to think of it - a Sherlock/HP crossover.)

Oh! And I read this one this morning.

I subscribe so hard to your opinions on Joe's physique! How anyone could see Inception and not see that Arthur is a freaking enforcer is beyond me. Damsel in distress he is not. Also, it's conceivable that when having sex with Eames he sometimes tops. But maybe that's just me. (I admittedly tend to write him as topping more often than not, but the fandom doesn't seem to agree with me.)

I am so stupidly excited for The Dark Knight Rises! Why can't it be here already?!

Date: 2010-10-27 06:41 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com
Joe has always taken incredibly physical roles. He fights, he gets his ass kicked, he also kicks much ass. (Brick, Inception, Killshot, even Mysterious Skin to a lesser extent). I'm pretty sure he could drop most people in under two minutes. If you underestimate him because he's lean... that on you. Personally I've always thought that Arthur tops, but also likes bottoming. Then again I also don't tend to subscribe to the you can only do one thing or the other theory. All my stories have Eames and Arthur trading off.

No Riddler means there probably won't be any JGL, and that makes me sad. :(

Ahaha, that plot for the Snow White movies sounds ridic. And yet, I want someone to write me an AU of it.

You never know. I honestly don't think Joe's thinking about work at all at the moment, but who knows what Chris might do. I was doing some facial study the other day for character work and it occurred to me that Joe might actually be able to fill Heath's shoes as the Joker. They have a rather similar facial structure especially around the mouth. I didn't think much more of it, but this morning [livejournal.com profile] the_grynne linked to this (http://flicksided.com/2010/05/casting-couch-joseph-gordon-levitt-as-the-joker-in-batman-3/).

Ahaha, that plot for the Snow White movies sounds ridic. And yet, I want someone to write me an AU of it.

I'm sure if you brought it to your people, they'd hook you up.

4. Ahahaha! JGL is built like my brother, who is a skinny fuck with serious muscles and a washboard ab he doesn't even have to exercise to get. Not that I'm jealous or anything.

Every girl friend we've had in common has had the Conversation of Awkwardness with me where they confess that now that they've taken a second look at my brother they've realized how strong and hot he is, and did I know he's ripped?

5. Theoretically, where would one be able to watch this online? I mean, supposing one is American.

I read fantastic Sherlock fic every day, but I'm terrible about bookmarking it, so let's see what I have in the folder...

Right, okay, here we go. I'm too lazy to go through 46 bookmarks at the minute, so here's what I remember as being excellent. They are all Sherlock/John unless otherwise denoted.

you promised me broadway was waiting for me... (http://charmlessgirlx.livejournal.com/2287.html) by [livejournal.com profile] charmlessgirlx wherein there is drunkenness, the holidays, the Pogues, and dancing.

Impropriety Be Damned (http://community.livejournal.com/redliar/1422.html) by [livejournal.com profile] ptelefolone wherein there is hurried and quite inappropriate sex, while Mycroft and Mrs. Hudson are waiting downstairs.

It Would Have Been Enough (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/575.html?thread=906047#t906047) by [livejournal.com profile] cosmicdancer wherein there is Sherlock being Jewish, and taking John to meet his terrifically loud and awesome family for Passover.

I'm calling this one: Since 1967 (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/575.html?thread=930879#t930879) by [livejournal.com profile] lilapaddy wherein the detectives are sure Sherlock is murdering John.

And this one is bookmarked as: Utter Pornography in a Closet (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/575.html?thread=1075263#t1075263), also by [livejournal.com profile] lilapaddy wherein there is...utter pornography. In a closet.

Finally, last but by no stretch of the imagination least, this one (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/2262.html?thread=3150038#t3150038) by [livejournal.com profile] et_cetera55, which also has no name, but is a magnificent Mycroft/Lestrade fic done completely in text messages.

Have fun!

Oh Sherlock is just all kinds of wonderful. Have you gotten your hands on the other two episodes yet? If not, I think you can still pick them up here> http://veronamay.livejournal.com/804157.html

As for fic... well, Sherlock is fast becoming my new favorite fandom to be rivaled only by GenKill. But with all of the quality to be found, it's no wonder.

I'd suggest anything by wordstrings (http://wordstrings.livejournal.com/1626.html), That Thing You Like by Misspamela (http://misspamela.livejournal.com/610945.html) and Free to Move About the Cabin by moony (http://moony.livejournal.com/1606857.html) just to start with.

2 - I vote Bane! Only, you know, done properly with the emphasis on his being a highly intelligent strategist with a ruthless disregard for using other people to get what he wants, and not a giant inflatable doll with a busted speaker. Written with some brain behind him, he could be quite interesting, and not at all a bad fit for Nolan's Gotham. (/$0.02)

And I would speak to item 4, but all that would come out would be some completely inappropriate noises, 'cause that's what seems to happen whenever I try to consider anything about JGL's physique. (I swear, it's like the world noticed I was over the Stark Sands induced brain-death, and decided to fix it.)

Hope you don't mind me joining in on the discussion. I whole heartedly agree with you about JGL. I was in karate for many years and one of my teacher's was built similar to Joe. People underestimated him a lot, but he was very fast and very strong. He could easily take down a man three times his size with one move. Strength isn't about having huge muscles, it's about knowing how to use your body.
