Dear wise flist:

I need to buy myself an external hardrive. Something in the neighborhood of 80GB. Who/what do you recommend and why? How much should I expect to depart with?

On a scale of zero to so weird, how strange is it that I love watching The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy specifically for the fights in the apartments? I mean the fights themselves are chorographed beautifully, but mostly I just like looking at the apartments (especially the one in Paris). I can pretty much stop watching after I see the apartments.

I wrote Chuck/Bryce yesterday, and it's happy, dammit. We Sure are Cute for Two Ugly People

For one thing, I'd recommend bigger. Because once you know you have the space, it fills up fast.

I'm partial to SeaGate, as is, I think, my Mac-user mother (I don't know what you have). I think between the two of us we have three of those in the house. The cords are nice and long (well, reasonably) so even if you don't have space right next to your computer, it's okay. I have mine placed under my desk and the cord reaches fine and spares me space on my desk.

The smaller externals tend to be about a dollar per GB. The larger ones (at least in my limited research at Bestbuy.com) can be roughly a dollar per 2GB. But at Best Buy you can get 160GB for $100.

Though, most of them are kinda the same as the others. They're mostly plug-and-play and pretty easy. If you don't have USB 2.0 ports a bubble pops up telling you you've plugged in a high-speed device into a non-high-speed port, but that just means it'll transfer a bit slower.
