I could have some real Heroes thoughts, but I don't. I'll just be over there rubbing my hands gleefully and practicing my Jesus Arms. Also, check out the gorgeous cover art [livejournal.com profile] ravurian made for Twentysomething.

This story has been on the backburner for entirely too long, my apologies.

Friday Night Lights

General spoilers. Rated PG-13
Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] antheia and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish for cheerleading.

I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass

Please don't let it be Madonna. Landry will sing all of the words to Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' over the pubic assembly system on Monday morning before he'll let Riggins buy a Madonna CD. )
First of all, thank you, to every last one of you for aiding me in my time of complete and utter meltdown, you're all wonderful and I don't tell you that nearly enough, but you are, so thank you. If anyone else needs happy things, I cannot recommend this post highly enough, there are links and photos and songs, and shit, it's a bonanza of happy. Who the fuck doesn't need that?

Second, you all gave me some fucking stellar shit to play with And That's How Babies are Made is currently traveling all over the globe via e-mail as is The End. Every writer will adore Stewie and Brian's conversation about 'that novel' and as everybody heard me shriek yesterday, Baby Daddy, err, Adrian Pasdar was on some horrible American chat show looking smoking hot (*sigh*) and talking about Shakespeare and his kids. *oh, Adrian*

Third, there is nothing like the power of music to heal. I mean nothing. Because for all of your amazingness there was still this -- well, wound (for lack of a better word) -- I couldn't ignore it and then along came the Kaiser Chiefs' new blinding single: Ruby and stuck a huge plaster over everything. Now some of you may have heard me talk about the Kaiser Chiefs' before –- they rock, they roll, they are pure British rock pop punk (or baby punk as I affectionately refer to them on occasion). For most of 2005 people tried to get me to listen to them, but I kept confusing them with the Arctic Monkeys and screaming 'You shan't take me alive!' But early last spring I was converted by a 15 sec blurb on Virgin radio and it was all over. I was in love. I talked about it a lot. My friend S will testify to this. Mostly she hears 'OMG I LOVE THE KAISERS. I LOVE EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU LESS AND LESS! RICKY WILSON 4EVA!!!' Yeah, that's, uh, pretty verbatim when you're drinking at 10am.

I can't really put into words why Ruby (video can be seen here) seemed to do things I'd been trying for weeks to sort out, only that it gives me hope in ways I haven't felt it in a while, that it makes me feel better -- about life, about music, about the world, about people in general.

The new album Yours Truly, Angry Mob will be out in the UK on the 26th of this month (my copy is already pre-ordered) and out in the States on the 1st of March –- if you only buy one album all year, this might be the one to get.

ETA: KAISER CHIEF'S BONUS (3 LIVE TRACKS FROM THE NEW ALBUM)

I give up.

I am having a really shitty time of it right now, because whomever said wild women don't get the blues was a liar, and I would love to see lots of things that make you guys happy: happy stories, happy songs, happy pictures, fuck it, it could just be a smiley face. Mostly I just need happy things. Please?
I posted a wee!Peter & Nathan story yesterday for you lot, which El Jay promptly ate, because she's a disagreeable, moody bitch, especially on V Day. Life is a One-Way Street, and If You Could Paint it, I'd Draw Myself Going in the Right Direction has art and adorable-ness and whatnot.

If you liked Ducks in a Bathtub, this is for you. There's also music in that post, so even if you don't like Wee!Peter, you'll want the freebies.

Also, thank you to everyone who showed me some love in [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's Valentine's Day Game, because you gave me mad warm fuzzies and are totally awesome. *mwah* Special love to Madelyn for running the challenge yet again, and just kicking ass up and down the street in organizing it. Also, big, huge, enormous love to [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock for running the superb fandom-wide [livejournal.com profile] 14valentines Challenge and doing it with style and class. That's not easy, my hat's off to both of you -- and also To My Flist: because you are awesome, and entertaining, and smart, and wicked funny, and every day you make my life a little brighter.

I'm still not sure how I feel about last night's FNL. Some of it was mad awesome. Some of it made me cringe (in that, oh, that's a little too close to RL way). Most of it was entirely too real.
Thank you anonymous donor for my lovely candy hearts! *feels very loved* In the spirit of sharing the love and fuzziness and whatnot I dug up my awesome V'Day icon from last year's Valentine Santa –- whomever you are, STILL AWESOME –- and now come bearing a few presents and sharing some love.

a) [livejournal.com profile] aebbhel introduced me to Silly Pipe Dreams, which is like one big mix-tape blog of brilliance. It truly has something for everyone and I spent about an hour pouring over links and poaching, err, appropriating music. But you know it's hard to keep up with blogs, so [livejournal.com profile] smonsterbite did us all a favor and created an LJ feed of AWESOME. Love to you both.

b) Last year I made two music zip files for the Hallmark Holiday of Notoriety: one For the Lovers and one For the Others (YSI links, because SS is down). Why fix it if it ain't broke?

c) Do you like my icon? I stole it indirectly from [livejournal.com profile] slodwick. You could probably blame her for this too...

Heroes
Nathan Petrelli, Peter Petrelli (PG)
Gen. Pre-series. VERY pre-series.
*This could be considered Ducks in the Bathtub-verse or you can take it on its own cripplingly sweet merits.

Life is a One-Way Street, and If You Could Paint it, I'd Draw Myself Going in the Right Direction

Nathan is testament to the fact that Petrelli nannies are not typically that good at letting children be children. )

*Happy Valentine's Day to those who roll like that –- Happy Wednesday to everyone else!
"I've never been in bed with two men and looking at pictures of my wife".* Adrian Pasdar, Greg Grunberg and Leonard Roberts bringing the best of Heroes HoYay right to your screen in which there is eloquence, people are strong-armed by bouncers, set visits, and somebody turned Beyonce down for a dance. Or something but I'm not real clear, because again THREE MEN IN BED TOGETHER. It's totally a TV show waiting to happen – oh, wait it already is.

The only thing I could possibly wish for would be a better quality feed and naked Adrian bits. Just saying.

*Not "I've never been in bed with two men before" -- but "I've never been in bed with two men and looking at pictures of my wife."

**gacked from [livejournal.com profile] sparky77

Regarding last night's Heroes I think we all know what my reaction was -- followed by the taking of blood pressure medication and lots and lots of Jesus Arms (™ Eddie Izzard) Where there is more squee, more Bad Place, and more vindication )
1. Last night were the Grammys. I read the paper (they back up on me a lot) while they were on except for whenever the Dixie Chicks were mentioned -– then I looked for Adrian Pasdar, because was there some other reason to watch it? -– it only took two hours of suffering. Wow, is that a hot man. *deep breath* My depravity knows no depths when it comes sharp-dressed men. Just saying. I could stand some stills if anybody happens to have them. Again, just saying.

Sidebar: If you can find me Grammy mp3's of Gnarls doing Crazy or the Dixie Chicks singing their song, I'll give you a cookie.

2. [livejournal.com profile] thepouncer has informed me that Kitchen Confidential is coming out on DVD! This is not unlike informing me that Adrian Pasdar is in my house and I should just go home now.

3. A couple Heroes recs before tonight...

a. The Story of Nothing by [livejournal.com profile] just_katarin, which a) is absolutely astounding b) has spoilers for 1.14 c) is most definitely Petrellicest, amongst other things d) is definitely not for the faint of heart or easily troubled, because I read it three days ago and still feel a bit screwed over in the head

b. On Friday I wrote Wee!Peter and ducks. Apparently [livejournal.com profile] slodwick translated this as 'Plz to find pictures of said Wee!Peter (and Wee!Nathan!!) and write snippets to make [livejournal.com profile] hackthis all hormonal. Misson accomplished in spades.

c. Last week [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 wrote Five Facts Ando Learned as Part of His Epic Quest to Help Save the World, which is Ando and Hiro and Peter and Nathan (and also Peter/Nathan and Nathan & Hiro and Hiro and everybody and okay, I'll stop spazzing now ). This starts off a little slow, a little misleadingly, you're thinking it's sort of a landscaping piece, and then she goes and stabs you in heart with these basic truths that just –- every hero needs a sidekick, y'all.

4. Once again, it's time for Free Music, [livejournal.com profile] calikali's Frankenmix!:

The New Beginning Mix )
It's been a Petrelli kind of week around these parts. What can I say, I'm totally enamoured of Nathan and want to have his illegitimate babies (oh, wait).

Earlier this week [livejournal.com profile] slodwick and I posted Under the Influence of You, which is our first collaborative mix. Yesterday I wrote Jealousy, Man, It's a Bitch, which is either Peter & Nathan or Peter/Nathan, depending on your point of view. It has nothing to do with this. This might send you into sugar-shock, but I think it's worth it.

Heroes
Nathan Petrelli, Peter Petrelli
Pre-series (very pre-series)
General. Rated PG. Your mother could read this. Hell, my mother could read this.

Ducks in the Bathtub

Peter's laughing sounds like drunken hiccups, and by the time they're back at the house and under the mildly disapproving eye of their mother, Nathan's forgotten all about the ducks. )
I had some real thoughts about last night's Friday Night Lights, but they mostly boiled down to: that may be my favorite episode ever. It could have gone wrong so many times, they could have totally copped out, but they didn't. They're totally running the course, and that's pretty damn amazing on network TV. Hell, that's pretty damn amazing on ANY TV.

Also, this wasn't what I set out to write, but it's what happened, so.

Peter Petrelli, Nathan Petrelli (vague Peter/Nathan)
Spoilers for 1.14 'Distractions'
Rated PG

Jealousy, Man, it's a Bitch

It's not his fault that he was born into the most repressed family in Greater Manhattan. )
It's not every day that you get an e-mail that basically says I GIVE UP! YOU WIN! PETRELLI-CEST FOREVA!* But that's pretty much what I got yesterday morning from [livejournal.com profile] slodwick, which made my day full of win. The only thing better than that e-mail was her confessing that she now had songs that made her think of Peter/Nathan, and to me that was like manna from heaven. So, we decided that what the world rilly rilly needs right now is a Peter/Nathan Petrelli Mix.

*This may be slightly open to interpretation. Slightly.

Under the Influence of You

A [livejournal.com profile] hackthis & [livejournal.com profile] slodwick Production.

Plz to be clicking here for teh music )
The only thing better than one night of insomnia is TWO nights of insomnia.

Also, I am turning off all phones on Monday night now, because clearly, even getting texts about what I'll be seeing (without spoilers) is totally setting me off.

This is the part where I talk about Heroes and all those unpopular opinions that I hold and all that other stuff that happened and how I plan to spin this in ways that make Ari Gold proud. Spoilers for Heroes 1.14 'Distractions' )
1. Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon. You know where to find me to redeem your raincheck.

2. I don't usual do this, but [livejournal.com profile] heidi8 told me if you vote here you can make Sony release Cupid on DVD and I really want to see Ari holding a quiver of arrows and shooting people in the ass.

3. Peter is Emo may very well be the all time best Heroes video ever. The title doesn't even begin to cover it, but as I told the person who linked me: You know that scene in Jurassic Park towards the end where the kids are eating ice cream and the boy sees the outline of the raptor behind his sister's head, and he just freezes holding the spoon and she's like 'What? What, motherfucker, WHAT?' -- Well, for the the first minute I sat in front of the screen I was that boy.

4. I have been in labor with this story for weeks. I first mentioned the idea to [livejournal.com profile] antheia last year, but scratched it, and then last week [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and I made a pact that we each had to produce some Petrelli-fic, which put me back on the hot seat. Then [livejournal.com profile] antheia and [livejournal.com profile] literaryll started waving these photos in my face where Milo was dressed nicely and we all know I'm a sucker for a sharp-dressed man.

Heroes
Peter Petrelli, Nathan Petrelli (or possibly Peter/Nathan, it depends on your point of view), Angela Petrelli, Heidi Petrelli

Summary: "Nice suit," Nathan says mildly. "Did someone die?"

No More Keeping My Feet on the Ground )
I know the Linderman casting spoiler is out there. I do not want to know. I want to be surprised. Do NOT tell me about it. Do not tease me. Do not dangle it in front of me. I am asking, please.

Now, onward, everyone's ordered their copies of Harry Potter I take it? (First link to the UK Amazon, Second to the US). Lovely. I am theoretically working on something FNL-related for [livejournal.com profile] antheia and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, but I thought it would be nice to give some music, because I haven't done that in a few weeks, so like [livejournal.com profile] musesfool did

Here are my Top 10 Songs for January 2007 (In no particular order) )
So, like, I was trying to avoid having a massive brain dump in here, but then I said fuck it. My El Jay I can do whatever I damn well please. So.

Regarding Claire's Parentage:  )

Regarding What Is Either Blatant Racism or Sheer Stupidity, but probably just a mixture of both:  )

Regarding Cheesy 80s Music, Nathan and Peter, and Thanking the Good Lord that I have no vidding skills: )

Okay, now that that's done. Everyone run over to look at the FNL prettiness on [livejournal.com profile] azewewish's LJ. That's what I'm talking about.
I thought this week would be better than last week, but I was fucking wrong wasn't I? *sigh* Happy thoughts... happy thoughts...

I saw Howl's Moving Castle recently, twice, because well, shit, was that a goddamn awesome movie or what? I also saw Sky High, which was cute, in an American Harry Potter sort of way, but is there fic for Howl or no? Also, if Children of Men doesn't leave you poleaxed in your seat, man...

Also, today is NATHAN DAY! Okay, every day is Nathan Day 'round these parts, but since it's Monday it's doubly Nathan day. All I want to do is talk about the awesome Petrelli-centric writing being done by [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 (or I would be if the latter would write some more damnit (*smacks with anvil*). There was some sort of mass proliferation this past weekend though and I highly recommend When He Sings by [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch (incest) and Peter Pan (gen, Nathan & Peter) by [livejournal.com profile] linaerys which are both absolutely CRACKING stuff. Bless you both many times over.

Their writing spawned some random thinky thoughts about Nathan, which I'm sure will come out in my writing soonish (what you thought I was just going to tell you? HA!) But I will say that upon second viewing of Godsend I noticed two itty bitty things that, you know, might be worth taking notice of. Yes, I am a Proud Member of the 'Nathan Petrelli Maybe be a Sociopath, but I bet he dresses better than your Neurotic Plebe' Society )
Yesterday sucked some major ass. I think the words my friend used to describe this week were 'horrific' and 'scarring' and 'God didn't make a bottle of vodka big enough for this.' Okay, the latter might've been me. In an effort to promote happy-making, however, a few things:

a) I've posted Heroes fic twice this week -- L'Amour N'est Pas Tout, which is Peter/Nathan of the very NC-17 variety, and The Man Who Told Everything, which is Peter, Hiro and Nathan, and so general that your mom could read it.

b) [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn is once again hosting the love-fest known as The Valentine's Day Game, which is about fifty kinds of awesomeness.. It's where you give lots of other people love and then sometimes they give you love too, and everybody is happy and gets warm fuzzies. *pause* Just read the flipping instructions and participate, okay? Do unto others and all that claptrap.

c) Some brilliant giving soul ([livejournal.com profile] ella_ventic) has taken it upon themselves to transcribe the cast commentary for Heroes, which I believe is a new thing, or may just have only recently come to my attention because of the fucking AWESOMEness of said commentary this week. If you've been in my LJ in the last two days I've tried to pimp it to you (I have no doubt) because when you have three men talking about BroYay and designer stubble you are SO doing something right.

Tim Kring? You and me, baby. I'm drawing sparkly hearts around your name right now.

ETA: There was something that really fucking bugged me about last night's Friday Night Lights. Okay, there was more than one thing, but I think the biggest can be summed up like this... )
This story is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] antheia who kept poking at me to tell her more and more about the concept until it was like I had written it anyway. The beta was done by [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma who's been putting up with my OCD ways for a really fucking long time, so even when I irritate the crap out of her with my thirty copies of the same thing, I know she still likes me.

Heroes
Peter Petrelli/Nathan Petrelli
Through 'Six Months Earlier'
Rated NC-17

L'Amour N'est Pas Tout

A bottle of Jose Cuervo gold and three limes. Oh, well, this should be good. )
I'm still smiling this morning.

I am smiling the smile that won't go away and is sometimes mistaken for the grin of I had really awesome sex last night and I'm grinning like this because the rest of my body is yelling in pain and I have lockjaw or some shit. Ahem. Yeah, that is pretty much how I feel.

I can't seem to focus properly, but Regarding the Curious Case of the *Still* Growing Hotass of Nathan and Peter Petrelli AND the Awesomeness of Hiro and Ando OR here be some spoilers for Godsend, which will mostly be in all caps )
Do you smell that? That is the smell of vindication.

I win!

\o/

ETA: I did have some real thoughts but they've all come down to ... !!!!! O_o !!!1!!!!11!!!!! ... <3333

Tim Kring you are so awesome to me right now for what you did that the only way you could be cooler was if you did a crossover with Entourage where Turtle was a sekrit herbologist with the power to grow Super!Weed or Friday Night Lights where Matt Saracen was a Super!Woobie. Which um, he already is so never mind.
Tomorrow is the birthday of the very illustrious W. I could preface this with all kinds of claptrap, but the fact of the matter is that she is just all kinds of awesome and I am very honored to know her. So, this is for you, Happy Birthday!!11!1!1!

Heroes
Peter Petrelli, Hiro Nakamura, Nathan Petrelli
