1. It's only taken nine months, but Dysfunctional has been updated by the grace of [livejournal.com profile] obsessedmuch. What? I didn't write a lot this year, everything was just really long. Speaking of long...

2. Yesterday I posed 12,000 words of Entourage fic entitled As We Are, Or How Lloyd Saves the Day (Again). Yes it has Ari. And Eric. And Vince. And Turtlendrama. Oh, and Lloyd.

3. I also covered President Clooney's press conference yesterday afternoon. I love our President. He's totally groovy and hot. And the First Man ain't bad either. Isn't it nice how the entire US has gotten more interested in politics since he was elected?

4. I need musak. Please.

Jools Holland 'As the Sun Sets Over London'
Travis 'Twenty'
The Wonder Woman theme
U2 'Fast Cars' (my copy's gone runabout)
Travis 'Last Train'
Oasis 'The Importance of Being Idle'
Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out'
Madonna 'Open Your Heart'
Jack Johnson 'Brushfire Fairytales'

Anything else you think I should own.

5. Does anybody really miss She-Ra?! When the hell is Voltron coming out on DVD already?
I have been sitting on this for a week, patiently not shrieking at my beta, because she loves me and I am trying to practice my Zen. Enough of that. Let's rock out.

Fandom: Entourage
Spoilers: All seasons, up to and including the S3 Season Finale
Rating: Nothing you wouldn't get with an episode. Sorry.
Summary: So, it's going to be one of those days.
Notes: Art provided by the [livejournal.com profile] slodwick corporation. Beta by [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma. Entourage is the property of Doug Ellin and the scary folks at HBO. I did the soundtrack. Yes, Virgina, this is that story.

As We Are, Or How Lloyd Saves the Day (Again) (I of II) )

President and Vice President Hold Press Conference.
President and Vice President Hold Press Conference.

President George Clooney and Vice President Barack Obama sat down with Treasury Secretary Sam Brownback to talk about the current financial surplus and how the President plans to spend that money.

"Five years ago, I would've used this money to finance a movie critizing the administration, but since I *am* the administration, that would be a little detrimental. I was thinking I would just give all the money to PBS and the arts. And Medicaid, because it would be nice if we all had heath coverage, wouldn't it?"

After sorting out the crisis in Darfur, creating peace in the Middle East, finding an alternative oil source in vegetable oil, and financing a cure for cancer, the President laughed off suggestions that he might need a vacation. "I'll sleep when Anderson says I can," the President joked of the First Gentleman. "Apparently, I still need to get global warming under control or I have to sleep on the sofa tonight."

After today's press conference, Clooney and Obama will meet with the Secretary of State Oprah Winfrey, and Chief of Staff Ari Gold to talk about ways to improve the U.S.'s standing with third world countries. "We're talking about dropping the debt for 2012," Winfrey confided to The Washington Post earlier this week. "We think it's about time that everyone got on the same page."

When asked about Winfrey's statement, Gold rolled his eyes. "Hell no," he said. "Tell Oprah to get back on her meds."

The President and the First Gentleman will be in London next week to attend the baptism of Prince William's daughter, Diana.

**This travesty of RPF created based on George being so awesome and speaking before the UN today. Yay, George! Also, [livejournal.com profile] heidi8 tells me that George will be on Anderson tonight because he misses his baby daddy even though Anderson is still out of the office. Do you think they have satellite phone sex?

I am so wrong. I know this. It's great. I need to buy me one of those Clooney in 2008 shirts
I have this one thing to say about last nights Nip/Tuck )

Top Five Links of the Day

1. Personally, I find the whole Lonelygirl15 thing hella creepy.* It was hit because "[an actress pretending to be 15 y.o. home schooled girl ] had me fooled into thinking she was a geek like me." <-- verbatim from said article In short, men were obsessing over jailbait, and that's why they all had to stage a manhunt to find out who she was. Uh huh.

*I never watched this, but I'd read about it in passing, and at the time my thought was the same as it is now -- The hell?

2. Whitney is divorcing Bobby? Hell to the no! Actually, considering that he's been dating Superhead, while Whitney's a crackhead he's really stepped up. *provided by [livejournal.com profile] antheia

3.Oh, George Clooney, how are you so awesome?

4. When [livejournal.com profile] defamer_atom is telling people to watch Kirk/Spock vids you know the mainstream is right around the corner.

And the best news I've heard in months:

5. Spain is banning models that are too skinny. You should have some Buttons to celebrate.

[livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl wrote me BSG RPS so I win all the cookies. And [livejournal.com profile] runpunkrun and [livejournal.com profile] iamsab wrote long SGA, The Mind/Body Problem, which I've been trying to find a moment to read all day, so, run, go, play, don't get your clothes dirty either.
The other day I got what I originally thought was a flame, except upon a second third fifth read I realized it was just an opinion. The person liked the story, and found it well-written (go team [livejournal.com profile] hackthis!) but didn't like the gay aspect. Or didn't like the porn part.

Now considering that the disclaimer on my profile says "writer writes SLASH!" I was a little befuddled... but you know, the person thought the story was really good except for the slash part. To which I eventually just said, 'Uh... okay, opinions are like assholes. I can respect that.' And yet, all I've heard this morning is that people think there's only one asshole to go around. There is only one point of view and if you don't agree well then you are evol and should be fed for the Minotaur! For the sanitary sake of all, I hope there's truly more than one asshole opinion to go around, but one more time for the people in the back who have the craptastic acoustics:

Dissent is not disloyalty

Disagreeing with someone's views, whatever the fuck they are, does not automatically make them a bad person. We can all wish it did, but it doesn't. Dissent doesn't make you a good person either. Slinging hash and saying that someone is a horrible no-good very bad person behind locked posts, because you're not going to step up and say it to their faces? Weak. So weak.

What really tears it though, is that it's really just one or two people that piss in the pool* and then everybody has to get out and wash off, and parents are upset and threatening litigation, and you know, that's just not the spirit we came here in. I thought the whole point of this social experiment called fandom was to bring the people who disagree and the people who agree and the people who don't give a fuck (normally, that would be me) together, so we can all hug it out and talk about the porn and give ponies and have a good time.

Can't we just kick it old skool, or what?

*If you want someone to piss on you, I have a friend that knows this ace dominatrix who can do it for a very reasonable price.

+ I dun forgot, I posted music the other day for the September Frankenstein Mix, in case anybody's feeling the need for some tunes.

++ I found this posting by [livejournal.com profile] amezri on fandom and forums and acting like you have brain which I enjoyed reading. *gacked from [livejournal.com profile] voleuse
It's Friday. I am ready to have a drink or six. While I wait for my toy boy to bring me a drink, I present the September Frankenstein Mix, brought to you by [livejournal.com profile] calikali

Hackthis' Blow Me Mix )
I forgot to mention that I am Author of the Month over a [livejournal.com profile] svroundtable, so I am answering questions about my writing over there this month. If you ever wanted to know how I made Lex do all the things he did, or why Clark is an ass, or how much crack I smoked for The Terrible Conflagration Up at The Place now is your chance to ask.

In other news, how do I put bullet points in an LJ post? T'anks!
If you love Nip/Tuck and you know it, let me hear you say, HELL YEAH!

HELL YEAH!

Oh, this season is going to be on fire. (Feel free to squee and holler and say WTF in comments)

In other news, I am working on the Entourage story. Fear me! And -- and -- [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine is very patiently urging everybody to get out there and pimp some vids, so today, I am pimping not one but TWO vids (see me kissing ass).

The first video was brought to my attention by her holiness [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine and it's an SGA vid called Atlantis! by [livejournal.com profile] sherrold and [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords. Now being a woman without a country fandom I didn't know about this vid's existence, and truthfully, I feel cheated, because hello? OHHHHHHH-KLAHOMA where the wind comes sweeping down the plain...

Yeah, just uh, watch it. Don't drink anything while doing so.

And vid number two was literally just linked to by [livejournal.com profile] amberlynne along with a must see!must see! must see! posting -- and I would've stayed away because it has two things I have my hateration on for: Justin Timbertrick and Gryffindors! But not just any Gryffindors: Harry/Hermione and Harry/Ron. Yeah, I know. My inner Slytherin recoils in horror too -- except this is about Hermione cheating on Harry with Ron, and dude, it's to the Britney bashing song, err, 'Cry Me a River.'

It's good... with a capital 'G'.

Watch it, people.

And you notice I didn't even say anything about Suri Cruise? That child is entirely too pretty to be the offspring of TomKat. For reals.
Yesterday, while I was giving much shit to [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon about her newfound SGA appreciation, I mentioned having written kidfic, to which [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck said "WHAT?" "Why isn't it tagged?" To which I was just sort of "Err, what?"

See the fact of the matter is I do have somethings things tagged, topics like music and Trade and The Thousandth Man are tagged, because it seemed an easier way to link them together, but the idea of going back and tagging every fucking story in my memories section?

Absolutely not.

At least not until LJ comes up with a way for me to go to my memories, select which items need to be tagged and then tag them together, because the idea of going through 500+ stories and tagging them one by one is just never going to wash with me. If you have a problem, try the memories section, or my website, which yes, I know, has not been updated since January. If you can't remember what you're looking for, just ask, but as for tags, yeah, no.

As a concession, however, I have tagged the smaller fandoms that I dabbled in (Entourage, SGA, Spider-Man, Everwood, O11, Warrior Angel, KC... you get the point) or series are now tagged and available on the right side of my LJ since I am trying out one of these newfangled S2 designs.

Also, people in the UK it is my great pleasure to remind you bash you over the head point out that Entourage will be starting on ITV2 from 10 September. I know you're all excited. They even made a website for you: http://www.imwithvince.com

Now you have NO excuse. Especially since Ari just won his own Oscar Emmy.
I started this story almost two months ago, more on a lark than anything else. I wasn't serious. It wasn't going to happen. I was tired and didn't want to write anymore. At some point I went to delete the file, which was about 1/5 of what it is now, and got sidetracked. Eventually, instead of throwing it away, I sent the file somewhere where I figured I'd never see it again. I think most writers know this abyss of 'Shit that Will Never Happen.' So imagine my surprise when three weeks ago this story popped up in my mind. This is still the story I couldn't write. It's the story that wasn't going to happen. Except I was wrong. Go figure.

Fandoms: Superman Returns/Smallville/Teen Titans
Spoilers: Heavily SR (but not in the way you probably think); SV (Season 1); TT (vaguely)
Rating: Adult (m/m)
Word Count: 22,496
Summary: Remarks like that are his inner Luthor coming out.
Notes: I think I've said plenty. Casting and soundtrack available at the end of the story.

The Way I Was Made – Part I of III )
+ The best thing you can do for yourself today is to click on this link, because High Tea in the Parlor Makes the Ladies Holler. G-Unit standing for Greenwich Unit. Topsiders and girls named Bambi. Pimping in the Hamptons. Priceless.

Do not drink anything while watching that.

+ I am working on something very special for you lot. Or I would be if Beta #1 would get her ass moving. [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon that means you. It's amazing what can be accomplished through bitching. On to Beta #2.

+ [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis somehow managed to press-gang me into work for the [livejournal.com profile] svroundtable. I'm a little shocked. Normally, blatant violence would be necessary for something like that. I think she caught me with my trousers down in an uncharacteristic momement of weakness.

+ Don't drink anything when you watch Adventures of the Superficial Friends either. Seriously. The Hollywood Ick girls, err, It girls as the Superfriends sent by Dubya to save the world from Stephen Colbert. Really. No typo. They live in the Hall of Anorexia.* I think that says it all.

+ Song of the day: Flying Lizards 'I Want Money' Originally by Barrett Strong and covered by The Beatles, there's a certain blatant honesty in this version that you don't hear in the original or The Beatles version. The woman is telling it like it is, and you can hear her underlying message of 'Give me all your fucking money, dammit!'

I like that.

*Please note that the management considers eating disorders a serious business and is not trivializing their nature in any way by promoting this clip. I'm just pointing out that this clip is classic.
I haven't written anything in about, err, three months. However, there are tentative plans for me to write Entourage fic, because [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma is EVOL. Please keep in mind that that says Entourage and not just Ari fic. We're talking Vince, Eric, Drama, Turtle and Ari. And LLOYD. Because everyone loves Lloyd. There will be Season 3 spoilers. There will be Vince/Eric. There will be Eric/Ari.

Yeah, that's no typo.

But of course I need help. I need art.

I want art. It's my inspiration.

I crave it like Star Jones craves press.

So, with knowing absolutely nothing about the story (apart from the fact that it's tenatively called 'As We Are') make me something. Please? Some people have shame about such things. Not me. Life is too short not to ask for what you want.

*[livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis has screen caps here and you can also find art on the HBO website. Just saying.

Also, I need some music. Send me something new, something old, something borrowed, something blue. Boy + Guitar, Country, old skool rap, middle skool indie, British, Brazilian, French, Motown, Beatles, Stones, Mr Cash, etc -- Just you know, inspire me.

ETA: The August Frankenstein Mix run by [livejournal.com profile] calikali is up. Have at it.

ETA#2: I dunno if you lot have heard, but The Piven did a photoshoot for The Gap. I may not shop there, but I can appreciate hotass regardless.
For everyone who discovered Regina Spektor through the breath-taking brilliance of [livejournal.com profile] lim's SGA video This is How it Works, you might potentially be interested in Regina's latest video Fidelity, and I won't even hate (much) because I'd been pimping Regina for two years and nobody was listening. Please note: that even if you're not into the SGA fandom this video is *highly* recommended by me just for the artistry.

Also, Joshua Scott Jones that one artist that I told you all about that one time that was so new he only had one song recorded (Clang)? Yeah, well, see what bitching gets you? A whole eight-song podcast** courtesy of the Hardcore Troubadour ladies.

That, people, is progress.

Random gossip of the day: Supposedly X17 got Suri pictures, but all I see is people looking like Madame Tussauds' replicas, and damn, but it makes me think of The Liberation of Katie Holmes, which uh, yeah, now that's some crack right there. [livejournal.com profile] missdeviant, are you seeing this?

*Title from the song 'On the Radio' off the Begin to Hope LP, inspired by [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's most brilliant story Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose

**He even has two Jeff covers*** which, shockingly, don't make my ears bleed. Prior to this momentus occasion, all Jeff covers were known to send me running from the room screaming for knives and arsenic.

***Of course one of these is a cover of a cover Jeff did of Leonard Cohen, but until they come up with a new phrase for a cover of a cover, I'll just call it a cover.

ETA: All YSI links have been replaced with SS as apparently YSI now requires you to log-in, which is just ludicrous
1) Jeremy Piven strung out. Alicia Keys kissing you the middle finger. Ryan Reynolds with big guns. And Andy Garcia blowing shit up. On 03/02/07 (or 02/03/07 depending on where you reside) I'll be screening Smokin' Aces.* Will you be there, too?

Cards. Explosions. High body counts. So my kind of film. I'll ignore Ben Affleck if you will too

2) Damon is putting together a little band with some guitarist from The Verve. And another from The Clash. And it's being produced by the man who brought you Gnarls Barkley and The Grey Album. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly will be coming to you in January 2007. Look for the single in October.

3) I heard some random ass show called Battlestar Galactica will be coming back soon. Has anybody written something about that, or am I the only person who cares? I'm quasi-lurking today in that bored and jaded way. Impress me with your new music, new stories, new fandoms. C'mon kids, distract me.

ETA: Apparently they've started shooting some random ass film called Ocean's Thirteen. Personally, both Ari and I will be shocked if it doesn't suck the big one, but maybe they're only good in odd numbered films.

*Please note that the link jumps directly to the trailer. I SO need an icon with Alicia Keys doing the middle finger blow-off.
Tonight was the best episode of Entourage I have ever seen. I don't even have an adaquate vocabulary to describe the brilliance. I screamed like a bitch the entire time.

That's pretty much it. I hope everyone is well.

ETA: Thank you so very much to the Summer Sekrit Santa who bought me the lovely red rose!
Last week's music post was so well received that I had to squeeze in one more. I'm sure there's a theme here, but I can't quite connect the dots, or perhaps I'm just unwilling. I want you to enjoy this purely for the sake of the music, because music is the best boyfriend ever, and not like real boyfriends at all.

This post is huge. It was so big I had to split the zip. [Edited by the management because it occurred to me that I was quoting Elton John, and wow, is that wrong. Is this what emoting is like? I don't think I like it very much. I want a refund!] )
I said to myself today: Self, you should do a gratuitous music post, because today is a nice day, and you prolly won't get to do this for a while. You should share the love and all that other shit, because goddamnit, it's a good day.

So, from me to you. This is a music post. It has music in it. A lot of gratuitous music for Teh Happy. You do remember what Teh Happy is like, right? If there's any part of that that's confusing to you, err, you prolly need to move along. Otherwise come on in, I believe there's something here for everyone… )

ETA: Seal 'My Vision' -- This just came on my rotation and I decided it had to be added right now, because I really do think Seal has a lovely voice, and there's something really self-affirming and 'let me spin in my chair and be happy' about this song.
